Yerba Mate was discovered by the Guarani Indians, who believed it could cleanse and heal the spirit. Today millions enjoy it in South America. Mate is an evergreen plant of the holly family Ilex Paraguariensis. With the current popularity of Chai in the United States, many variations have evolved. We offer this Mate Chai for lovers of Mate who also enjoy the spice blend of cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom. Mate Chai can be brewed on it’s own or with added sweetener and milk product.

The Mate Gourd and Bombilla (straw) are traditional vessels used for enjoying Yerba Mate. The gourd is filled three-quarters full with the leaves and after adding water, the brew is enjoyed by sipping through the bombilla.
