Matcha

Matcha

Matcha is a powdered green tea made from shade grown tea leaves and then ground slowly using a granite stone mill.  While the original home of Matcha is Uji, Japan with its select generational tea producers few other areas in Japan also produce noteworthy Matcha today.  More importantly, Matcha has held a sacred space in the traditional tea ceremony artform of Japan.  Schools of tea in Kyoto, such as Omotosenke and Urasenke have traditions in this artform and time honored practices originating centuries.  Practitioners of this art take the preparation and serving of Matcha with a lot of love and skill.  More modern use of Matcha has evolved into making various beverages and cafe’ drinks.  Whatever be your use of Matcha, we request honoring in your own way, the same special connection to this tea as has been done for a number of centuries by tea lovers.
