About This Product
The grade of tea commonly used for Chai is known as ‘Cut, Tear and Curl’ (CTC), which is a heavily rolled black tea† leaf with very low moisture content. This style of tea is best when boiled on the stovetop. Sada Chai, our organic CTC from Assam, can be brewed on its own or with added spices. When the leaf is optimally boiled, adding milk and jaggery (sugar) provides a delightful golden glow.
Ingredients: 100% Organic Black Tea Leaves.
Brewing Instructions
Bring water to boil, add one level teaspoon of leaf per 8 ounces of water and let boil for two minutes. Add milk (or non-dairy substitute) in a 1/4th milk to water ratio and bring to boil again. Strain and sweeten to taste.
We recommend adding a spice or herb of your choice and experimenting with different combinations. Some spices we enjoy: cloves, cardamom, ginger, black pepper, saffron and cinnamon.
