About Golden Needle Tea:

Golden Needle tea is made with only the newly sprouted tips. Although Yunnan is known for its ‘gold tip teas’, we usually find a lot of variation in the flavor profile, depending on the specific region within Yunnan. High quality gold tips are made in the early summer months of May and June.

The Cangyuan area in Yunnan is near the Chinese-Burma border and produces particularly good Golden Needle. Due to the remote location, it is usually difficult to find seasonal tea pickers and the tea plants have undertaken a slightly ‘wild-grown’ character, which we like. Older tea plants yield less, but produce significantly better flavor profiles.

Ingredients: Black tea leaves.

Flavor Profile:

Roasted and chocolatey with notes of red apple and hibiscus.

Brewing Instructions:

Every tea is different and can be brewed in different ways. The chart below is not a hard-and-fast guide for brewing this tea, but rather a place to get started. Steeping time may vary based on your personal taste or on how many infusions have already been done. Experiment with the brewing of your tea to discover its unique character.
